The Barry Kay Archive - a non-profit oriented organization - provides an electronic research resource of Barry Kay's artistic contributions to humanity.

The Archive Plaza informs of the Barry Kay Archive's affairs. Here you can find matters concerning reciprocal cooperation, data exchange, research, design authentication, usage and/or publication of Barry Kay's works, including copyright issues, and physical Archive access. Also addressed are charges, sales and our collection of Gift Cards featuring some of Barry Kay's designs and photographs.

Cooperation
|
To encourage awareness of Kay's works, we cooperate with professionals and academic institutions by sharing information. All the same, for the completion of our own Archival data we need to rely on reciprocal assistance and exchange of information by others. We also interact with corporate business seeking to use Kay's designs and photographs commercially. In both instances our collaboration is subject to the proviso that awareness and appreciation of Barry Kay and his works are supported and promoted.

Publishing
|
Barry Kay's designs and photographs are available for publishing and exhibiting. All of Kay's works, whether held at the Barry Kay Archive or elsewhere, are protected by Copyright. Permission to publish any of them, or to publicly display those held at the Archive, may be granted under a Usage Agreement, provided the conditions above are met.

|
Authentication
|
We are offering to authenticate designs and photographs by Barry Kay as well as to research his professional engagements, assignments and works. Authenticated graphics and documents will be numbered according to our Archive's internal indexing system, signed and, if applicable, identified verso by the Curator. This process also entails applying our official Archive stamp of authoritative verification.

Archive Access
|
For professionals and students, who wish to have physical access to design and photographic materials for research, or for those interested in acquisitions, a private viewing of the Archive's contents may be arranged by appointment. Owing to our almost non-existent resources, general public viewing is not available and needs to remain restricted to the Archive's online display.

Despite the lack of external funding the Barry Kay Archive needs to be self-sustaining. To ascertain the continuance of our archival work and online presence, both to the benefit of everyone, we very much depend on the revenue derived from cooperative services we provide. Hence some of them incur a fee, dependent on circumstances and the nature of particular requests.

Publishing
|
Publishing Barry Kay's works wherever they may be situated in any part of the world, or publicly exhibiting those held at the Archive, are generally chargeable. Charges vary from case to case and an exact quote will be provided once the purpose and extent of the request are known.

Authentication
|
Authenticating designs and photographs by Barry Kay incurs a fixed fee per each item - available upon request.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Research
|
Researching Barry Kay's professional engagements, assignments and works on behalf of institutions and organizations able to operate on sufficient funding is chargeable. Fees would need to be assessed based on the extent of research required. Charges for research on behalf of professionals working independently in their own capacity as individuals may be waived at our discretion, pending the purpose and extent of the request.

|
Our Ex Operibus collection contains designs for the theatre, peripheral graphics and objets d'art by other artists for sale. Sales do not include mounts and frames. Prices are available on request.

Publications
|
Antiquarian copies of Barry Kay's photographic documentary published under the three titles of As A Woman, The Other Women and Die anderen Frauen (1976; out of print) are on offer for sale when in stock. Prices vary according to acquisition costs.

Gift Cards
|
The Barry Kay Archive offers a range of exclusive gift cards available for sale, featuring stage and costume designs by Barry Kay as well as a selection of his own photographs. Discerning connoisseurs of theatre art and design will appreciate these cards - not obtainable anywhere else. Gift cards, sizes and prices are displayed in the Gift Cards Collection.
